The Long-running debate between Macbook Air and Pro never seems to end. But what really are the differences between these two, here’s what you need to know!
Apple’s MacBook series can be quite confusing for many people, especially the Macbook Air and Pro. There’s quite a price difference between the two which begs the question, what makes these two different from each other, and which one should you, as a customer, go for?
These are a few of the questions that we will be answering in this guide, where we compare both of these apple products to see if there’s a difference at all and what exactly makes one device better than the other.
Why is it hard to compare these two?
There are quite a lot of laptops out there in the market but when it comes to comparison, people often find themselves scratching their heads when it comes to comparing Apple’s Macbook Air and Pro. There are a number of reasons why the comparison between these two laptops is hard.
The first reason is that both of the laptops now have a series that keeps on expanding with multiple models, which always brings about new changes to these laptops making it an ever-changing cycle of comparisons from apple lovers all around the world.
These both are excellent when we talk about performance thanks to Apple’s latest technology that keeps on getting better every year. So in order to make things a little easier, we are going to compare the latest models from these two lineups to see which one is better than the other and what exactly makes them different in the first place.
MacBook Pro Vs Air – Design
The very first thing that we are going to dive into is the design of both these laptops. And I must say, so far, they have both been pretty similar in appearance. With a slim metallic body that appears in two colors, Space Gray and Silver, the design has been pretty minimalistic.
But recently, we have been seeing some new changes in design. The MacBook Pro now comes with even slimmer bezels and a little notch at the top of the screen for the webcam. It looks super elegant and doesn’t cause much of a distraction to the user.
When we talk about Air, the design is kinda similar but instead of having a more defined rectangular bar for the webcam, MacBook Air comes with a little wedge, the rest looks pretty much the same but with the color options that this laptop comes with, wins the design game for me.
Now if we talk about the weight of both these devices, MacBook Air is a little lighter than its Pro counterpart. It makes Air much more convenient to move about and more suitable for long-distance traveling.
MacBook Pro Vs Air – Performance
The next and probably the most important thing that we are going to jump in is the performance of both these laptops. Since Apple has ditched the Intel processors and has come up with their very own powerful series of M processors, we can see some incredible results.
Now in order to make things fair, we will MacBook Pro 2020 with an M1 processor, 16Gb RAM, and MacBook Air with the same specs. When we compare these two, the specs are quite similar but according to the benchmark testing. MacBook Air performs slightly better than its MacBook Pro counterpart. You can play some heavy games, even some of the new games like which you can get some .
But if you are ready to spend more, you can buy the next-in-line MacBook Pro models with an M1-pro processor that are much faster than both of these versions. They score twice as much on the benchmark tests and they cut the processing time as short as half. However, they also cost twice as much, which doesn’t really seem to be good when we talk about value.
So when it comes to performance and value, we think MacBook Air provides a much better value for your bucks. It is cheaper than its Pro counterpart and performs just as well, even better.
Which One Should you Buy?
Well, both of these Apple devices are great and they mostly go hand-in-hand when we talk about performance, look, display, or even battery timing. But when we look at the price tags, I think Air is still a better option compared to its counterpart.
But if budget is not the problem, I really think you should get the newest Pro devices that come with an M1 Pro processor with the power to take your processing game to the next level and make them twice as fast!
